For an extended stay, it's good to know how this place works before you book. It took me a couple of days to get used to Extended Stay America after more traditional suite hotels. I'm used to finding dishes, cookware, dish soap, and kitchen basics already in a suite. Here, nothing is provided, and the setup seems geared toward longer-term living, where guests bring their own kitchen things and make it feel like home. I was also surprised that there weren't fresh washcloths or housekeeping, and replacement linens cost extra before the 14-day point. Once I understood that full housekeeping and fresh towels come with a two-week stay, the arrangement made more sense. I booked five nights and wish I'd known all this beforehand. The team is wonderful, especially Ree-Ree, who was kind, patient, and helpful every time. They made me feel welcome from the first day, and the location is convenient for getting to what you need. There's also a resident chef on-site making incredible meals that you can order directly, a lovely and unusual touch. If you arrive knowing it's more of a live-in space than a regular hotel, you'll likely have a great stay. I'd recommend it.

I felt so uncomfortable that I slept in my car instead of the room I'd paid for. The hotel still refused to refund me, despite the condition of the place. The room was filthy and smelled strongly of mold, with dead bugs and lots of animal hair in the air conditioner. The mattress was badly stained and had marks that looked like possible bed bug traces. I asked to switch rooms, but the second mattress was still dirty and the room still smelled musty. I didn't feel safe staying there. That level of cleanliness and customer service is completely unacceptable, and this was one of the worst hotel stays I've had.

The one good thing was being only eight minutes from the Barrett Jackson auction. Otherwise, the beds were so uncomfortable that I'd have rather slept in our truck, and the employees were rude, as if answering questions about town was a bother. Extended Stay owners, do better. At the prices you charge, guests should have comfortable beds and great customer service. Give employees a personality test. Just showing up doesn't make someone a good employee.

After checkout, I found an extra charge of over $200 because I hadn't stayed for the full reservation. My nightly rate had been adjusted retroactively. Nobody told me about this policy verbally before, during, or after the stay. When I disputed it with corporate, I was told it was buried in the lengthy contract guests are asked to sign. The night before an early work shift, I was locked out of my room with all my belongings inside. I repeatedly asked for urgent help, but was first told to move to another room. I explained that I needed my things and waited for the front desk manager to contact her supervisor, as she said she would. After more than an hour without the issue being properly escalated, I was put in another room and still couldn't get my belongings. They knew I would be very late to work, but there was no urgency, accountability, or compensation. I ended up more than two hours late for my shift. Later, maintenance told me they'd explained to the manager the night before exactly how to let me into my room, and she apparently chose not to. The property felt poorly managed, and the guest experience and safety were not well maintained. I wouldn't stay there again or recommend it.

The property felt sketchy and unsafe, with screaming in the hallways, constant disturbances, and cops showing up regularly. I'd never recommend staying there. Extended Stay North Scottsdale was the worst hotel experience we've dealt with, and the staff and management were unbelievably rude, careless, and unhelpful. The night before work, they locked my boyfriend out of his room with all his belongings inside. Rather than fixing it urgently, staff gave him the runaround, treated helping him like an inconvenience, and made him stay in another room without his things. He was very late to work the next morning and lost income from missed hours because of their mistake. They offered no compensation until he basically had to demand it, and still took no responsibility. Then they charged his card more than $200 after checkout, even though staff had verbally confirmed there would be no extra charges. Management has refused to refund it. Save yourself the stress and stay somewhere else.
