Holiday Inn Express Scottsdale North by IHG

The room was dated, but comfortable, and the TV had the biggest channel selection I've seen in years, just about everything. We stayed five nights in a great north central Scottsdale location. The complimentary breakfast was good, with an automatic pancake maker I'd never seen before, and the attendant was the best I've had. When we reported a shower problem to the front desk, a repair person arrived within minutes and fixed it in under ten minutes. I was very impressed.

The room was nice, which was about the only saving grace. The water was scheduled to be shut off during the day, so my hot tub plans were ruined and I couldn't shower afterward. I wanted to reheat dinner but there was no microwave. The hall smelled of mold or mildew. The front desk told me that since I booked through a third party, I got what I got. I'd think twice before staying again. Edited to add: There was apparently a problem with my third-party payment, so they charged my card for incidentals. Basically, I was charged twice for a crappy room, and I had to leave early without being able to reheat my food. When I called, I was told there was no manager in that day and they'd pass it on again. BEWARE BEFORE BOOKING, ESPECIALLY 3RD PARTY.

The wheelchair-accessible room was just right, with plenty of room to move around and a really safe shower. Grab bars were in all the right spots, and the shower floor was non-slip. The bed was huge and comfortable, and the staff greeted us warmly and were very friendly. I'll definitely stay here whenever I can.

The location is fantastic, with easy access to the ICU at Honor Health. The bathrooms were clean and great, with good water pressure. But the room only gets two stars from me: it looked like it hadn't been dusted in a month. Breakfast was pretty bad, and the coffee had no flavor.
