Linda did a great job working with me on this property. She patiently listened to what I needed and wanted, then carefully selected a unit that balanced my requirements with the price. I’d strongly commend both the property and especially the management staff. They set a standard of professionalism that’s hard to find. Thank you!
Hideaway is a clean, updated apartment, and the maintenance staff are capable and friendly. I’d like to give it five stars, but living by the pool means losing sleep night after night. Staff often leave the loud common-area music playing after the pool closes and through the night. I’ve called management several times and made a lot of effort to reach staff, but they don’t seem to care enough to deal with it. The music is loud enough to come clearly through our poorly insulated windows. I know ours is the closest apartment to the pool, but that shouldn’t matter if staff followed their quiet-hours policy, 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and the posted open hours, 11 PM to 5 AM, which they recently extended from 10:00 to 6:00. The music is obnoxiously loud, and nothing gets done about it. Hailey, a staff member, even called us liars and said they turn the music off every single night. We have videos from the middle of the night, which management has seen, but it continues. When we tried to move to another apartment, several staff members initially said it would be free. A few days later, a manager said there’d be a $500 moving fee and we’d have to repay the $1,000 move-in discount. Paying $1,500 just to escape the noise didn’t seem realistic, so we’ll have to wait until our lease ends and move to another complex. I included videos and screenshots of their email showing the quiet hours and saying music in common areas violates the lease. I wish they’d follow their own rules. 11/3 update: Hideaway still hasn’t fixed it. The music is often blasting in the middle of the night, especially on weekdays. It’s a complex that never sleeps, and they call you liars when you report the problem. They charge over $100 a month for facilities and keep you listening to music all night. On the bright side, it’s a solid deal if you want a cheap weeknight concert. May 2026 update: Hideaway has a new management company, Avenue 5, replacing Greystar. Management is less competent than before, and the common-area music is worse than ever. It feels like management has never heard of relaxing by the pool. We’re moving out because things have gotten so bad.
I rented here for 15 months and found out the complex was running short-term Airbnbs. There are at least 25 units, including one above me. The floors have no insulation, so it feels like people are walking on your head. In the first four weeks I lived here, six different people moved into that unit. Management did nothing despite my written complaints. Would you want strangers arriving at 2:30 a.m.? After complaining and calling city offices about short-term rentals, I found out Hideaway North Scottsdale doesn’t have a license or permits to operate as a short-term rental or Airbnb. There have now been eight different renters upstairs in four weeks, coming and going at all hours. There’s no floor insulation in any of the remodeled units, so it sounds like elephants are walking above you. I asked the owners and management to fix the issue and got no response. I was told they’re phasing out the Airbnb problem by the end of March, which is basically the end of the Scottsdale season. I asked them to cancel future reservations for the unit above me, but they said they couldn’t. There are over 40 vacant units in the complex, so they could close that unit and use one of those instead. I have a formal meeting with management tomorrow and will update on the results. Update, as of 2/18/2026: Nothing has been repaired or changed about the ongoing Airbnb issue. The noise and safety concerns for me and other permanent residents remain unaddressed by management, especially the property manager. There are about 25 to 30 apartments being used by the owners of this complex, who are pocketing the money and paying no taxes, so the management company can’t do anything about permanent tenants’ complaints. The place may look too nice to move into, but it’s really a trailer park, with strange cars constantly coming and going. These short-term renters apparently don’t have background checks from anyone. Maybe they’re drug dealers or gun dealers, I don’t know. It’s unsettling to live in a complex like this. Move somewhere else, and check with the city to see whether there are BnBs in the building.
Jessie and the Hideaway office team made transferring to a new unit easy. I moved from a two-bedroom to a two-bedroom plus den, and Jessie was kind and helpful in choosing the right place and getting the timing sorted out. I’ve just moved in, and it’s beautiful. We’re very happy. I love that Hideaway feels like a community, not just an apartment complex. The property, location, amenities, and people are why I’m staying. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you, Hideaway!
The location is fantastic, close to everything, and on paper The Hideaway North Scottsdale should be a great place to live. I was there for over two years, but the day-to-day experience felt like a circus. Management companies and staff kept changing, operations were chaotic, and residents paid for it. Even basic lease communication was a struggle. My move-in was set for a day the office was closed, so I couldn’t get a key. I repeatedly had to chase the team for information about my lease ending and month-to-month options. Lease management shouldn’t feel like an advanced group project. The biggest problem was ownership filling the property with Airbnb and other short-term rentals. Residents dealt with smoking, pool fights, disruptive behavior, loud parties, and even police activity. Management denied the Airbnb situation for a long time, despite residents reporting problems. Later, some operators stopped paying rent, and management finally acknowledged the issue, admitted they weren’t being paid, and said they had to evict them. Instead of solving it, they then doubled down and kept running short-term rentals themselves at the expense of the residential community. Some “make-good.” Residents pay amenity fees but have to compete with vacation renters for parking, pool space, and shared facilities. Residents are limited to two pool guests and standard occupancy rules, while Airbnb units seem to follow different standards. Pack those units with bunk beds and large groups of visitors get access to the same amenities residents pay for every month. Amenities also disappear without notice, then come back attached to another fee. When residents raised real concerns, management was often dismissive or passive-aggressive instead of trying to solve them. I won’t forget Hayley threatening to involve law enforcement because I asked why residents got little or no notice about a water shutoff. More recently, Jamie suggested I “move earlier” to “be in a better environment” rather than address the concerns I’d raised. I’m a grown, educated, professional woman. Deflecting and responding passive-aggressively isn’t customer service, and it doesn’t replace clear communication or accountability. The place markets itself as luxury, but my experience was inconsistent communication, slow maintenance responses, pests, water shutoffs with little warning, and management that rarely seemed prepared or accountable. At least there are food trucks and Pilates classes, for more money. Just watch out for the roaches. ;-)
