Sentral Old Town

As for sleep, I barely got two hours. A huge rainstorm hit Scottsdale, and the roof drainage above the bedroom poured onto the metal patio flashing like a fire hose. It sounded like sleeping in a car wash. The bed was rock hard too, so between that and the noise, sleeping was almost impossible. This seems like a design flaw staff can’t fix, but avoid Room 527 during rain at all costs. The only thing going for the place is its location, though there are plenty of other options nearby. I honestly don’t understand how it has a 4-star rating on Chase or as an apartment complex. I feel sorry for anyone living there. There was no visible ice machine, and the fridge’s ice maker didn’t work, probably wasn’t even hooked up. There was no evacuation plan or building information posted anywhere. Even the toilet paper holder was nearly falling off the wall, though housekeeping had stocked it. If the door-slamming vibrations made it fall in the night, would that be my fault too? Cleanliness was bad beyond the toilet and bed. The knives and cookware looked unwashed, with food still caked on them. The rug and couch were stained all over, and one big spot looked like urine. It wouldn’t be hard to remove and clean a rug. The couch was so dirty I didn’t want to sit on it. After checkout I reported all this, and they said “housekeeping will clean it.” That’s clearly not enough. The unit needs real repairs and furniture replacement. I couldn’t watch TV either. Maybe the remote was dead, maybe the TV didn’t work, but there were no buttons on the unit. No cable, no WiFi, and HDMI was blocked. After the way they brushed off the noise issue, I didn’t bother complaining. I met new residents moving in next door in the elevator. Inside my room, every door slam sounded like someone hitting my door every three seconds. I texted staff, and they said, “It’s likely neighboring residents closing doors. Let us know if it continues into the late evening.” Thankfully it stopped later, but the noise was ridiculous. It really sounded like they were slamming my door on purpose. The doors don’t lock automatically, so always scan your fob and turn the knob before leaving. I booked through Chase. At check-in, I was told to finish it on my phone, which would’ve been fine if I’d received a text or email ahead of time. I didn’t. Staff were friendly, but I wonder what they’d do if someone refused to use their phone. There’s no parking up front. I had to park in a tow-away zone to check in, and the guy just said, “Yeah, that’s fine.” The listing said “covered parking,” but it cost about $20 per day, and I had to install an app I didn’t trust. Using my phone to open the garage was kind of cool, and my car felt safe there, but the whole thing was still frustrating.

Gustavo at the front desk was amazing and so helpful. Our two-bedroom apartment was really spacious and just right for our spring training stay. We’ll definitely be back and recommend it to all our friends.

It was surprisingly quiet despite being so close to everything happening in Old Town. The front desk staff are always friendly. Stefani, Megan, and Cedric were easy to work with and answered all my questions before and during our stay. Definitely would recommend.

The building is amazing, with a rooftop area, pool, and exercise space. The rooms are just a few feet from Olde Town, so it’s absolutely walkable. Did I mention it’s right across from fashion square mall? ;)
