Stay Alfred at Broadstone Scottsdale Quarter

Since the new management came in, the property has gone downhill a lot. Hallways and shared areas are in atrocious condition, and doors are often left unlocked or unsecured, so random people can wander the halls. The units have dated finishes and old appliances, at least 10 years old. Don't waste your money; there are plenty of better options nearby.

The building is beautiful and in a prime location, so it's unfortunate to see it become one of the worst-managed properties around. They're offering 8 weeks free rent and still have high vacancy. I also noticed all the new tour 5 star reviews, and wouldn't be surprised if incentives were offered for good reviews. Listen to previous tenants, not people who only toured. The new office staff have been very disappointing, and things have declined quickly over the past month. The hallway carpets are dusty and dirty, the stairs are covered in dog hair, and the building smells strongly of urine. The office number goes to a call center with a 928 area code, making it nearly impossible to reach anyone on site. Customer service there feels impersonal and unhelpful. Moving out was especially frustrating. Leasing agent Felicia threatened an extra charge for not returning my keys by office closing, even though my lease said I had until midnight. The assistant manager said they expect apartments back in "move-in ready" condition, which made it sound like they didn't plan to properly turn the unit. I hired a professional cleaner and was still charged an unreasonable $800 for "damages and cleaning fees." When I moved in, there were numerous issues and management gave credits to compensate for the poor condition. I was told I would have no issues at move-out, and I hadn't anticipated the management change. This charge feels excessive and unfair, and I'd like it reviewed. I have documentation and receipts if someone can reach out.

I've tried for several months to get help from the new office staff by phone, email, and in person, but they still haven't removed my former roommate from the lease. Whenever I finally speak to someone, they promise a call that day. I never get one. My former roommate and I have both signed the roommate release form, and my bank statements have been verified. All I need is a new lease agreement emailed to me. It shouldn't take long, but the office has been unprofessional and hasn't responded to my inquiries.

I've been a happy resident for two-plus years. Staff are responsive, and the property is still in good shape. It's nice to see the managers making upgrades and putting on more contests, activities, and socials for residents. Those things add a good sense of connection to the community. Some shared spaces could work better. Outlets in the lounge would help with electronics, the gym equipment could be rearranged, and downstairs could use more mirrors. Another set of basic dumbbells upstairs would be useful too.
