Room 36 was such a lovely getaway. The layout worked really well and the decor was beautiful. From our balcony we could watch people surfing, and it was just a short walk to catch a gorgeous sunset.

Room 28 works especially well if you're bringing a dog. We set up our dog fence around the patio, and there's a small patch of lawn around the corner. The price is good, too. This is our favorite hotel on the coast, and we try to visit a couple of times a year. Sitting in the room watching the surfers is something we always enjoy.
Thin walls meant I could hear everything from upstairs, and the people there woke me at 7 each morning. I had to change rooms when mine suddenly smelled like throw-up. They left earbuds in the room and hadn't changed the trash can, which added to the bad first impression. Parking was difficult. The bridge clearance was 5.5, and my car got stuck under it because it was so low. I had to duck every time I went through. The room came with earplugs, so they seem to know about the noise. I'd suggest the top floor if you don't want to hear people above you. This was a horrible waste of time. There are cheaper places with much closer access to the city. Don't pick this hotel.
I love the Lanai, and the AI summary got everything right. The staff were courteous, but I'm extremely disappointed that they wouldn't enforce their quiet-hours policy. I was next to a couple, and the man spent hours talking loudly on speakerphone. He woke me from a deep sleep at 4:30 a.m. I asked politely for him to lower his voice, and he did for about five minutes before starting again. I called the front desk. They said guests in the room above, and apparently the room on his other side too, had already complained, and staff had already spoken with him. They said they'd speak to him again. I heard the front desk person at his door, where they argued because he didn't care and wasn't going to stop. I went out and yelled at him too. He acted arrogant and entitled. Once it was clear he wouldn't stop, I think he should have been removed from the property immediately. He wasn't, and the noise continued. I spent some of the few dollars I had to stay there, and I think I deserved to enjoy it. Don't hand me a quiet-hours lecture at check-in if you won't enforce the policy or care whether I can enjoy my stay.
We live in Vancouver WA and look forward to staying here for our anniversary. It's our favorite hotel, and the staff are the best, especially Shane, who's really knowledgeable about the area. We can't stop telling people about this place and recommend it to everyone we meet. You won't regret booking a room here!
