Bay Breeze Inn

The location suited us, close to shopping, a grocery store, Costco or Target, and lots of places to eat. It's between Fremont Blvd. and Del Monte Blvd. just off Highway 1. Our downstairs room was surprisingly quiet for such a busy spot. The king bed was comfortable, and we had a desk chair, armchair, and a table for eating or working. Breakfast included burritos, cereal, bagels, muffins, and juice. We had trouble with the TV, so staff moved us to another room, but then that TV also gave us problems the next morning. The two men at the office were friendly and helpful. The woman working both mornings couldn't fix the TV or print a checkout receipt. The property outside needs paint, rust removal, cleanup, and some landscape work. In our room, it needed dusting and mopping; the bathroom seemed to have some mold and could use work on the tub and walls, plus paint. We liked the location, and might return if the room were cleaner and the exterior in better shape.

For the price, the room was really good. The bed was clean and comfortable, the bathroom and shower were well maintained, and I liked the modern hard flooring instead of old carpet with mystery stains. There wasn't much of a view, but I hadn't expected one. City noise carried at night, though it wasn't too bad. I was passing through for one night and had planned to arrive around 11:30 p.m., so I called to ask about late check-in and was told the office would stay open until midnight. On the day, staff called to say it would close at 11 p.m. Luckily I was ahead of schedule and got there around 10:30. Check-in was quick and easy. I think the staff member was Sam, and he was helpful and thorough. They charged a $150 deposit and refunded it about two days after I left. The staff communicated well and the stay impressed me overall. I'd likely stay again if I'm in the area.

We were happy with the stay. After we'd checked in and settled, Jasmine called to make sure everything was okay. The room was better than we'd expected for the price and surprisingly quiet despite being close to the highway. Breakfast was just right, with waffles, muffins, cereal, juice, coffee, and other basics. The beds were a little hard.

I was very pleased with our stay and would come back. For a clean, well maintained motel at a good value, this could be a great choice. If you want luxury, Embassy Suites costs many times more. I arrived Sunday with my disabled Wife for a week. We checked in very late and were met by a friendly, helpful clerk with a great sense of humor. All the clerks were kind and helpful. The booking.com listing didn't mention the $150 deposit, but it was promptly reversed at checkout to cover room damage. The handicapped parking was right by the handicapped room. It had a mini fridge and microwave, plus bathroom grab bars, a special wand shower head for use while seated, and a shower chair. There is freeway traffic zooming past loudly, and across the street are auto mechanics and a nearby Harley dealer, but the reasonable rates made up for that. Target, Lucky's supermarket, other stores, and fast food are only a few blocks away. The ice machine can make enough ice to fill a cooler. Breakfast is free until 10 a.m. and may include hard boiled eggs, assorted muffins, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, and a couple other items.
