The Edgewater Hotel

We visited in winter, and the place had a lovely lodge feel, with two fireplace seating areas in the lobby. We were upgraded to an ocean-view room, and the water views were spectacular. The room was clean and got cleaned every day. Valet parking was expensive at $65 a day, much like at other hotels.

The service is what keeps bringing us back. Restaurant, bar, front desk, and housekeeping staff are all friendly and helpful. Even when we're only passing through SeaTac and need a night, we make a point of staying here for the local scenery. The location is hard to beat, with an easy walk to downtown sights and immediate access to the Seattle-Victoria FRS Clipper ferry and Norwegian Cruise Line terminals. There are some current drawbacks: the parking area is a construction mess, one of the main lobby elevators is out, and as of 2026 they no longer serve breakfast in the restaurant.

The hotel is an easy walk from the waterfront and Pike Place Market, which made the location ideal. The lobby won me over as soon as we walked in, with all the cute Christmas decorations and a bar set up around the fireplace. People were gathered there with friends and family. We had a water-view room with nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, so the ocean felt close. The layout meant you could see it from anywhere, even from the bathtub. I loved soaking there with a glass of wine and the view.

Shawn at valet was so friendly, always smiling, and went out of his way to make parking easy. Nora at reception was kind and helpful too. Those were the bright spots. We booked through Delta Stay, which was supposed to cover everything except a $33 resort fee, and my card was still charged twice after checkout, with another $25 in assorted taxes. The resort fee seemed to pay for nothing. For $300 a night, I expected proper hotel service. Instead the room was old and filthy, the air conditioner was loud and useless, and the floor creaked when people walked in the room above or next door. There was no noise control. The restaurant food was decent, but the receptionist was rude and unfriendly. The only thing worth praising beyond Shawn and Nora was the waterfront view. I won't return or recommend it.
