This is a charming old hotel, and it’s clean and well cared for. It has had some renovations, but don’t come expecting anything modern or new. There’s no AC, though you can open the windows and they provide a fan for warm days. The location works well for walking to Pikes Place Market, and the Space Needle and nearby museums aren’t too far away. Set your expectations for a classic hotel and you should enjoy the historic feel.

I expected a comfortable three-night stay, but left after the first night and asked for a refund. The room had a musty smell, the bed felt like plywood with a thin sheet over it, and the bathroom door wouldn’t shut right. Housekeeping missed our room one morning, and the front desk made it seem like we were to blame when we brought it up. The elevator was painfully slow, and flickering hallway lights at night made me uneasy about walking back after 10pm. For what they charge, I expected basic cleanliness and helpful service. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was a good size, clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed, nice pillows and a bathroom that worked fine. The local staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful with information. It’s easy to get to the Public Market Center (Pike Place), the ferris wheel, cruise terminal, library, shops and restaurants. I’d stay here again.

Our honeymoon stay was a nightmare, with a terrible smell, a damaged room and a credit card theft allegation. The “suite” had a stale odor that air freshener couldn’t cover, and there was a fist-sized hole in the drywall beside the bed. The neglected room and lack of basic security left me feeling so unsafe that I worried I might be stabbed there. Soon after checkout, my bank flagged charges I hadn’t authorized. An investigation confirmed, according to us, that a hotel staff member had recorded my card details and used them for personal shopping. We’re pursuing legal action over the theft. This was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and the hotel ruined it. I consider the accommodation dangerous and unsanitary, and say the establishment employs criminals. Save your money and protect your security by staying elsewhere.

We’ve stayed at this cool old hotel twice. The location is amazing, the rooms are really nice, and the downstairs restaurant stays open late. The coffee shop is good too. It covers the basic amenities we wanted and even goes a step beyond. There’s no AC, but the box fan worked for us. The shower head could be a little higher, sure, but who really cares? If you’re expecting a fancier place, book one. For us, this hotel does the job.
