Residence Inn Secaucus Meadowlands

The marijuana smell was foul and persistent throughout our stay. You could smell it in the parking lot in the evenings, then in the lobby and elevator, especially the left one. Whole floors reeked of it, and it drifted from the hall under and around our door into the room. We tried blocking the gap with towels, but it barely helped. We wish we’d read the reviews before arriving. The staff know this is an issue and do nothing about it. With so many reviews describing the same thing, it can’t all be coincidence or isolated incidents. This was the worst hotel stay we’ve had.

I’ve stayed here several times, and this review averages those visits. The location works well, with a bus connection to Port Authority Bus Terminal. Parking is often full, so you may have to use the overflow lot across the road, beside the cinema. The pool was temporarily closed during my December 2025 visit, which I hadn’t known about. I hope it reopens instead of staying closed indefinitely like at some other Marriott properties. There’s also a stench in certain parts of the hotel and some rooms. I’ve stayed in one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and regular rooms.

A terrific Marriott property, with a great location about a 15-minute drive from midtown when traffic is clear. Check-in staff were great, and free EV charging is a game changer. There are also lots of good restaurants within walking distance.

Of the hotels I’ve stayed at in Secaucus, Residence Inn Meadowlands has been the best fit for my family and me. It’s clean, comfortable, and well located. Gayle and Neolline were there when I checked in and were especially warm, friendly, and helpful. They made me feel at home right away. That kind of welcome really improves the stay, especially compared with places where the staff aren’t consistently friendly. We loved our visit and will definitely return. Thanks to guest services for making it so nice.
