Hampton Inn Sevierville

We were passing through and needed a room for the night. The rate was reasonable, and the location is set back from the road, so it was very quiet. Our room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable.

The place was very clean and cozy, and the service was top notch. It wasn’t the quietest, but it wasn’t the loudest either. Breakfast was average. All in all, a great value.

The shower was hot and breakfast was good, at least. The pool was closed at 9 a.m., even though it was supposed to open at 6. I didn’t sleep like a rock, I slept on one: the bed was extremely stiff, and the underfilled pillows offered so little comfort that using two left my head feeling pushed against the wall.

My uncle died suddenly on Monday, September 8, and his funeral was on September 13, the date I had booked a one-night stay. I forgot to cancel and only realized it when the hotel texted me on September 14 to ask about my stay. I called Hilton customer service that morning and was told to contact the hotel GM to see whether a refund was possible. I called the GM as instructed. I know it was my responsibility to cancel. It was an honest oversight while dealing with a devastating loss, and sometimes people deserve a little grace. After I explained what had happened, I was told I couldn’t get a refund because it was a big game weekend and the hotel could have sold the room. That felt heartless and insensitive. Two hundred dollars may mean little to a company this size, but it means a lot to me, especially after what my family has been through. I’ll never stay at a Hilton property again. It feels like the company values $200 more than showing compassion to customers or anyone going through hardship. I hope someday someone gives you the grace you couldn’t give me. I understand it’s business, but this feels like bad business.
