I paid $888 for one person from the 9th to the 13th, and I wouldn't stay here again. The stairs were extremely steep, with a handrail on only one side. They were safe, but getting my luggage up them was overwhelming, especially with my progressive Multiple Sclerosis. The shower had debris around the edges of the floor. My studio put the bed in the kitchen area. There was no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan, and the windows opened without screens. The air smelled musty. The small dorm fridge had a freezer packed with solid ice, so there was no room to make ice cubes. On my last night I left it open to cool the room. There's no ice available, and the washer and dryer cost many quarters to use. Check-in was difficult for me, though the offsite property manager helped. I only stayed four nights.

We were right in the middle of old Seward at a great price, with plenty of room and lots of character in Seward's oldest building. The owner has clearly put effort into preserving its history, from the classic mid-century kitchen, which still works well, to the many photos spanning nearly 120 years in Seward. The staff are year-round locals, attentive and proactive, and knew everyone around town for food and tour suggestions.

We picked this apartment for its charm and historic character, and the location was excellent. But it was one of the worst places I've stayed. Each of the three days we came back to find the door open, though we had shut and locked it. Management said the cleaner may have left it that way. The cleaner never really cleaned the apartment, either, just put a towel on the bed. The front door had no automatic lock, so it was unlocked most of the time. With the door being left open too, anyone from the street could have walked right in. There was barely any hot water: it took about ten minutes to warm up, then kept going hot and cold. There's no AC, which I may have missed in the listing, so the window had to stay open. A rowdy bar next door made that unpleasant. The beds and bedding were among the worst I've slept on. My biggest frustration was the lack of care and communication from management when I contacted them. Seward is great, but this apartment really hurt the trip. Better locks, mattresses, and cleaners could make a big difference.

I paid $275 a night for a very small studio apartment. The Seward Hotel, supposedly the best hotel in town, was asking $250 per night that same week. There was just one chair and nowhere to sit for breakfast. The cutlery was inadequate, with only one cereal bowl, so I had to call management. They never replied to my email. I don't recommend this place.

The place was quaint and had everything I needed for my two weeks in Seward, Alaska. Michelle, the owner, was warm and welcoming, and a fabulous host. It was just right for my adventure. I can't wait to return, and I'll stay with them again.
