Hotel Edgewater

The location was convenient and the property looks great, but the room comfort didn’t match the effort put into the appearance. The mattress was really poor, the bedding wasn’t cozy or plush at all, and our room only had two small pillows.

The location is hard to beat, right on the bay and an easy walk to shops and restaurants. The Cookery and Forth Ave Bar & Bistro are across the street, and Zudy’s Cafe is next door. We had a south-facing corner room, 108, on the first floor, with a balcony and bay view. It was small but clean and had the expected amenities. Two windows and the sliding door brought in amazing light and views of Resurrection Bay. The roads weren’t very busy, so noise wasn’t bad.

The lobby and breakfast buffet were the good parts, though the buffet costs extra. Our room had no windows, so it felt dim and depressing, and the lights weren’t bright enough to see well while eating dinner. The AC was broken, but the staff gave us three box fans and three breakfast vouchers.

We liked Barack, the shuttle driver, who was very nice and shared details about the city. Malenia also checked us out on our last day and arranged our transportation. The rest of the stay was very disappointing. Our room was small and oddly arranged, with no closet rod or hangers, and the coffee maker was set where there was no outlet to plug it in. Some furniture and appliances had thick dust on them. The AC didn’t work. We reported it three times and had to keep following up before they finally said they couldn’t fix it. We asked to move rooms, but were told the hotel was sold out. They offered a fan, which never arrived. The on-site laundry wasn’t working either. Maintenance didn’t come in a reasonable amount of time, so we walked to the laundromat.
