Shamrock Country Inn

We were crossing from the East Coast to the West Coast and got in during the middle of the night. The owner still welcomed us and was incredibly helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean, breakfast filled us up, and there was plenty of parking for our cars and large trucks. We appreciated how hospitable and welcoming the place was.

The family who run this motel were very nice and accommodating. Our room was spacious, clean, and had comfy beds. The fresh paint and new bathroom tile show how much work they’ve put into keeping the old motel looking good. It’s also very close to the highway, and we had a beautiful stay.

Breakfast was a nice start to the day, hot and filling, with real eggs and Texas-shaped waffles. We were also pleased to find a grassy patch right outside the room for late-night walks and morning potty breaks with our dog. The staff welcomed both of us warmly, and the room was spotless, cozy, and surprisingly spacious for a roadside stop. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and parking right outside the door made unloading pet gear easy. We were on a cross-country drive and needed somewhere clean, comfortable, and dog-friendly. Shamrock Country Inn delivered, with a good spot off Route 66 and budget-friendly prices. We’ll be back on our next trip through Texas.

This was our third independent hotel on a trip that included mostly Wyndam properties, a couple of Best Westerns, and a Holiday Inn. We’d started in California, gone to Maine to follow the fall colors south, and were heading back to California. It was the least expensive place we stayed, but also the cleanest and best, with the best breakfast. I spoke with the owner, and he really cares about making guests happy. It’s on Route 66, where several other independent hotels had only a few guests. When we left this morning, every parking spot here was full, so it looked like all the rooms were occupied. Great stay, and I highly recommend it.
