Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Shelbyville

We had booked ten rooms for a work weekend, and our company has brought this hotel repeat business. Even so, when two people in our group arrived later on the scheduled check-in day, the hotel kept the first night's payment and gave their paid room to someone else. They had to find somewhere to stay almost an hour from the event, which caused stress, extra expense, and a lot of disruption. The front desk employee was dismissive and showed no empathy. She said, in effect, that our business didn't matter because the hotel had plenty of other business. We got no useful resolution, just hostility and a refusal to let paying guests use a room they'd paid for. That felt like a serious failure of transparency and integrity. Management should review how this was handled and the standards at the property. Staff shouldn't treat repeat corporate customers as disposable. Our employer trusted the hotel with significant business, but after this experience, returning is hard to justify. I hope management addresses the front desk conduct and provides more training on guest relations and problem solving.

The rooms were tiny, with hardly any outlets, and felt dingy. Breakfast seemed to be mostly picked over or left over. At least the water pressure was great.

The air conditioner rattled all night and sounded ancient. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows were huge. One pillowcase was dirty. The room was pretty much what you'd expect, and not in a good way.

The bedding had to be changed because there was hair all over it. The pillows had orange-brown spots, and I couldn't tell what was on the walls. The curtains were disgusting, too.
