Home2 Suites by Hilton Shenandoah The Woodlands

It’s a nice new hotel, but I won’t come back. The coffee setup has no half-and-half, just that awful non-dairy stuff, and that’s a deal breaker for me.

I left my trash by the elevator bin, right beside the housekeeping closet, and it sat there for two days. That’s hard to understand. Housekeeping also didn’t get to my room until 6 p.m. after I took the tag off for a cleaning. I’d left at 5 a.m. and was back around 4 p.m., but the room still hadn’t been done.

The room itself was great, but the noise throughout the hotel was ridiculous, and the rooms are packed too close together. If you’ve stayed at a Home2, you know what I mean. The front desk staff had no enthusiasm or drive, and it was obvious they didn’t like their jobs. Maybe management is part of the problem, but I can’t say for sure. Hilton needs to do something. This was by far the worst Home2 Suites I’ve stayed in.

We’re fans of Home2 Suites, but this location was a letdown, and we won’t stay here again. The room lights were harsh fluorescent bulbs, more like a hospital or office than a place to relax. Warm, soft white bulbs would feel better. The AC units smelled musty, and construction next door woke us every morning. We were here for 16 days, though we’d originally planned on six because our plans kept changing. The mobile key system didn’t work, so between reservations we had to get our keys remade. It seemed outdated compared with other locations. Staff weren’t cheerful or smiling, and only the front desk staff spoke English. If this is your first Home2 Suites, the other locations we’ve tried are usually much better.
