There’s no front desk. They email you a door code ahead of your arrival, more like renting through Vrbo. I booked a Deluxe Room with a King bed, but the property said there was a maintenance issue and reassigned me. The new room was much smaller and didn’t have a King bed, and they offered no compensation. I had to call my reservation company to ask for the difference in price back. The shower was so tiny there wasn’t enough room to bend over easily unless I opened the door. The old bed had a noticeable dip, and I felt like I was rolling into the middle all night. It’s an old building, and even if it may have been clean, the age and disrepair stood out: cuts in the vinyl floor and dingy paint on the walls. It’s conveniently close to Shiner Brewery and downtown, and as a visitor it can seem like the only place to stay in Shiner. We were all drinking on the brewery tour, and the other reviews didn’t look too bad, so we gave it a try. If you have a designated driver, I’d look for a place in a neighboring town. Go elsewhere if you can.

The location was the one good thing. It’s right off the Main Street, quiet, and we didn’t hear road noise. Shiner is a beautiful area, but this motel isn’t. I wouldn’t recommend it for a wedding party. We had three rooms for a family wedding and stayed two nights. The rooms were tiny and smelled bad. The vinyl floors weren’t clean, our feet were black the next morning. There was no soap in the shower, the knobs didn’t work properly and hot water came out of the cold side. There were no electrical plugs in the bathroom. The fridge and microwave worked, but several rooms were missing coffee filters or toilet paper. The automated locks were a problem too. By a miracle we got in with the code, but couldn’t lock the door when we left. There was no maintenance or service when things went wrong. We flagged down the maid for batteries for the AC remote, then found the remote still didn’t work with new batteries. The room internet wouldn’t stay connected.

We didn’t stay. When my husband and I got to the room, the window was broken, there was mold all over it, and the shower and the rest of the room were filthy. Everything felt damp, probably because of the broken window. Dirt and dust from the AC were blowing around the room. It was a huge disappointment and looked nothing like the website. Kharma was the one bright spot. She was very kind, felt awful about what happened, and arranged a full refund. If I could give zero stars, I would. I’d stay somewhere else.

ZERO STARS! The room hadn’t even been cleaned after the last guest, the whole place smelled like mildew, and the bathroom was rusted. The stench was unbearable. We left right away, and I’ll be getting a full refund. DO NOT STAY HERE, IT’S GROSS!
