Shoshone Inn

There’s a lot to see around here, from interesting rock formations and hiking to the history museum and post office. You can also find birding pools, hot tubs, camping and RV spots, plus Crowbar cafe/bar and restaurant, gas, groceries, and local goods. The place itself mixes a rustic exterior, including a large fire pit for gatherings, with really nice modern furnishings.

For a Death Valley starting point, this little motel worked nicely. It’s been upgraded a lot over the past few years, so it now has more of a vintage Palm Springs motel feel than the plain, basic place it used to be. The room was clean and the WiFi was good. The AC seemed very powerful, though it wasn’t hot during our visit. The TV was quite small and had only a few channels. That didn’t bother me, but at this price it could matter to someone else.

We had the wifflettee room for just one night, and it felt cozy while still having plenty of space. It came with a full kitchen. I really enjoyed staying here and would definitely return.

The location is good and the rooms are good too, but service was lacking. There was no clerk on duty much of the time. They also need to repair the pool and fire pit, or remove them from the website description.
