Holiday Inn Express Silt Rifle

The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful. We had two dogs with us, and the ground-floor room’s door opened right onto the back of the property, so taking them out was easy. A river and gorgeous mountain views were just steps away, and we enjoyed a peaceful morning walk before continuing our drive. We’d come from California to Michigan on a last-minute trip and hadn’t planned our hotel stops. College graduations made it hard to find a room while passing through Colorado, and three other chains couldn’t help before we finally reached this property. We got in around 10 p.m., exhausted from a long day on the road, and went straight to bed. Waking up to that lovely setting was a real surprise. I’d absolutely stay here again if I’m in the area.

Sometimes the detour turns out to be the destination, and that was definitely true of this Silt, CO gem. Breakfast was a 10/10, with egg white and veggie or egg and cheese omelettes, tasty home fries, meat, plus plenty of coffee, tea, bread, and condiments. There’s also Keurig coffee in the room, which was a nice touch. We grabbed a perfect latte at a local spot on Main St. less than five minutes away, then took a morning walk on the incredible river trail across the street. There was ample parking there. I’d pulled off the highway because bad weather kept me from reaching my destination on a cross-country drive, and this hotel happened to be right there. The front desk was friendly and accommodating about my last-minute booking. The room was nice, and I liked the Dove products in the bathroom. The location is especially great if you have a dog: there’s a path behind the hotel along the river, a lovely thing to wake up to.

The first customer service rep collected all my information for a reservation but never entered it into the system, so I never got a confirmation. I only found out when I called again and a different rep, sounding like a robot, sent me to another number without connecting me. That person said I had no reservation. I could have driven six or more hours only to discover there was no room booked. Don’t trust them with anything. This is customer disservice.

The value is there, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s a nice, clean hotel, and the desk staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The pool looks nice too. I’m giving it four stars only because I’ve stayed at places with better facilities. The workout room is small and has just a few pieces of equipment.
