The restored old hotel has a lovely atmosphere, a great location, and interesting stories behind it. We liked our room and its claw-foot tub, though the pillows could’ve been fluffier. We heard some noise from other rooms in the hall, but it didn’t bother us. The front desk clerk at check-in wasn’t very friendly. The next morning’s clerk was helpful and knowledgeable, and I believe the manager’s husband or the owner was also at the desk. He offered to carry our bags downstairs, and they stored them while we walked around. We were also welcome to water in the dining area. We carried our bags up three flights of stairs, and after climbing back up at night we didn’t want to go down again for anything we needed, so that was a definite drawback. Still, it was a good overall experience, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Silverton.

Hannah at the front desk was so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed when we checked in. We were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary and wanted to do something special. The hotel has been around since 1883, and they’ve done an amazing job preserving the historic charm and nostalgia. It isn’t a typical modern hotel, which is part of its appeal, but they’ve still made sure guests have what they need. For those of us who live at elevation, we’re used to going without air conditioning since nights tend to drop into the 40s. This place is great.

We had a wonderful time in Silverton and a great stay at this beautiful hotel. It has historic charm and great service. The owner, Jim, was wonderful and went above and beyond to help us with transportation when a medical situation came up.

I loved this beautiful, historic place. It’s right on the main street, so we could walk to all the great shops and restaurants.

For the $230+ a night we paid, I don’t feel we got that value in service or amenities, or that we were treated well. The rooms were sparsely furnished, there was no air conditioning, and we were told in the late check-in envelope that we could ask the front desk for a fan. The next morning a local had to summon the receptionist, who was outside watching the 4th of July parade. When I asked for a fan, I was told they had none left. Our room stayed between 78 and 82 degrees the whole time. The only polite staff member was one of the maids. She didn’t speak English, but was as helpful as she could be. The bathroom sink drained poorly. There was no fridge or microwave, and the only window that opened was in the bathroom, without a screen.
