AmericInn by Wyndham Sioux City

Oakley, our service dog, was welcomed warmly and seemed to enjoy staying here too. The hotel was clean, close to the amenities we needed, and even within walking distance of some of them. Breakfast was really good, with more options than I expected. The pool was clean and comfortable, though nothing special. I loved having a room with its own outside door, but our keys wouldn't work on it, which was a real pain. The staff were attentive and helped us add an adjoining room without any trouble. At first our room smelled musty, and the exhaust fan wasn't working. The bed, though, was a dream to sleep in.

The pool was nice, and the lobby stayed clean even on a rainy day with everyone tracking in mud. We were there for a few days, and the staff were amazing. Our room was clean too.

The comfy bed and the potpourri smell in the lobby were about the only bright spots. Our room smelled like cigarettes and mildew. The shower kept squealing no matter what temperature we set, even with the spout pulled all the way up. You can hear the train as if it's right outside. If you're able to, you may get used to it.

We paid a good price for a basic room at a hotel off the interstate. The layout was odd, with a little couch right in front of two queen beds, and the carpet was fraying in spots. Breakfast had eggs and sausage, some breads, and a waffle maker. There wasn't much for gluten-free or vegan diets. We appreciated having coffee, then got back on our way.
