Open Hearth Lodge

The fireplaces at both the front and back were going in the mornings and evenings, which made it lovely to sit with other guests or just enjoy the quiet. It says a lot about the place. The owners are attentive, and the hotel itself is peaceful. We brought our dog, and the dog rooms were spotless and just right. There’s a big area to walk the pups and a secure, private fenced potty space. Those rooms sell out often, so reserve early. Breakfast is included, too. I’d passed this hotel for more than 20 years without giving it a second thought, but now I love it and plan to come back. It’s a hotel done right. I’d tell you to try it, though part of me hopes you don’t, so I can still get a room! :)

The Evergreen Suite worked out perfectly for our girls' weekend, with two clean, spacious, pretty bedrooms and two bathrooms. We picked the place for its amenities, then found even more when we got there: snacks and drinks for sale in the lobby, lots of fire pits, and live singing entertainment. There’s also a delicious Thai and sushi restaurant tucked away just three minutes from the lodge. We’ll definitely be back.

We’re here for our anniversary, and wanted a room with a jetted tub. This was the only one available in the area, and I’m really glad we chose it. The front desk guy greeted us right away and was so friendly and helpful. They’re very accommodating, and you can tell they care about their guests. These days, expensive hotels feel overrated, and good service means more. We’ll stay again next year!

On our second stay this weekend, it felt just as much like an authentic lodge as before. I’m rarely this sure about a five-star review, but this is my ideal place to stay. It has personality, the opposite of a sterile white-and-grey corporate hotel. The breakfast room is incredible, and there are fire pits outside. You can buy beer, drinks, and snacks with Venmo, and even leave housekeeping tips that way. The location is great, too. This is what a hotel should feel like. Thanks for running such a genuine place.
