The front desk staff were courteous, and they hadn't charged me at the time I left, but this was a terrible experience. The room smelled incredibly strong and awful, like rotting flesh. The lobby had an overpowering sanitizing smell, as if it was being used to cover something up. I stayed only long enough to book another hotel that didn't smell. I was grabbing my things from the car when a maintenance worker came around the building coughing heavily and snorting to clear his sinuses. I'm a Hilton Diamond member and wasn't acknowledged as one. I had to ask for the complimentary water, which I felt I'd earned with all the money I give Hilton. I know these hotels are franchised, but this is a black eye for the brand. Avoid it, sleep in your car if you have to.

I watched and heard the front desk staff treat customers rudely and disrespectfully. A few months ago, I called to ask who had been working that weekend and was told there was a person named Sam who claimed to be the GM. Hilton should rethink who's running these hotels or retrain staff on customer service. Jen and Tabitha need to learn how to treat people and not judge them by their appearance. Sam should be fired if he calls himself a GM while letting the desk staff behave this way. He should look at himself too, because he's no prize package. I would never recommend the Hampton Inn in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The front desk service was horrendous. The Holiday Inn nearby isn't the greatest hotel, but I had a wonderful experience with its customer service.

The warm shower with good pressure was about the only thing I liked. Breakfast had so little choice that I left without eating. The king bed came with awful, paper-thin pillows, and when I asked for another at 5 a.m., the desk said there weren't any. I had a horrible night's sleep. There was a pile of trash in the hallway just past the elevator, and the corridors were freezing. In the room, part of the ceiling was falling apart. The ice and vending room had no vending machine at all. The person at the desk had been pleasant when I arrived, but I won't be back.

The front desk staff were friendly, but the rooms and amenities have been a recurring mess on my work stays here. Each time I've visited in recent months, the room has been disgusting and missing things. This time there was no bar soap or shower gel, and someone had put lotion in place of shampoo. My wife accidentally used it in her hair. While I was asking the desk for soap and shampoo, another guest was saying her room hadn't been cleaned at all. The desk employee's reaction made it seem like this happens a lot. With so many reviews mentioning dirty rooms, I'd have thought they'd have fixed it by now. The carpets throughout need replacing, the pool was filthy, and breakfast was bad, with burnt omelets. I won't stay here again in the foreseeable future.

Tiequanna at the front desk was really nice and helpful. Breakfast was still okay, though the choices were limited and the quality could've been a little better.
