The staff across the hotel, from the front desk and maintenance to housekeeping and the breakfast team, were pleasant and professional. I’ve stayed at some of America’s finest luxury hotels, and the Baymont by Wyndham in Port Huron holds up well in my experience. The rooms are simple, but the bedding feels luxurious, and the bathroom comes with huge towels and complimentary quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Just using the shampoo left my hair incredibly shiny and full. The pool is roomy and inviting, and breakfast is a standout: generous, with the kind of choices I’d expect at an upscale Sunday brunch. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I’d choose the Baynont by Wyndham in Port Huron for visiting guests or a local getaway.

Breakfast was fresh and enjoyable, and the location was convenient, set back from the interstate but still easy to find, with a gas station right next door. The staff were nice, but the pool temperature they gave us was way off. We were told it was 86°, yet it felt more like 50°. People already swimming said the desk had told them 74°. They need to heat it properly or stop giving out inaccurate temperatures. Our room was clean, though the bathroom wasn’t, with little hairs left in the tub.

The price makes sense for a hotel with dated rooms, and I liked my stay. Everything in the clean room worked, including the mini fridge and microwave. The wood laminate floors were nice, too. Staff I met were all kind and helpful, and the ice machines worked. I also liked the cute breakfast, pool, and small gym. I’m checking out now after two nights.

Management seemed not to care that guests were overcharged, and the follow-up email was just generic. I wouldn’t return or recommend this place to anyone I know. I booked because the rate looked like a good deal, then accepted the upgrade they offered for $5. I wouldn’t have taken it if I’d known they’d add another $60. On top of that, the water heater kicked on all night, and we could hear the couple next door repeatedly turning their tub on and off. Just when we thought they were done, it started again.

There’s a lovely pool, though I didn’t use it. Our room, #202, had a good sized balcony, the AC worked great, and the lighting was good. I’ve lived up here for 8yrs and never knew this place was here because it’s tucked back a ways. The room smelled of cigarettes. It didn’t bother me, but someone else could be upset by it. The hallway reeked of marijuana, which didn’t bother me either since I’m a toker myself, but I never smoke in the room. Get a weed pen, people! The bed was OK, though I know some people wouldn’t be happy with it. There was an ice bucket in the room but no ice machine, so I had to ask the receptionist for ice. She took my bucket away, and I could hear her breaking up the bagged ice. Breakfast ended at 9 on Saturday, earlier than the 10-10:30 time I usually see at other hotels. There’s NO ELEVATOR, and if I’d known, I wouldn’t have booked. It cost a little under $200, which didn’t feel worth it with no ice machine or elevator, lots of noise, and the early breakfast cutoff. I was less than 20min from home, so I just slept. You could hear people swimming and the freeway, but I can sleep through a tornado and an earthquake, yes, I’ve done it! The bathroom was very small, though I didn’t care since I showered at home.
