Terracehouse, A Destination by Hyatt Residence

The condo, pool, and hot tub areas were lovely, the property was well maintained, and the location was excellent. But our experience with management ruined what was supposed to be my only vacation this summer. I work in a neighboring mountain town and understand the challenges of living in a place full of tourists. I was disappointed by how my friends and I were treated, by management’s lack of response, and by the empty promise of at least a partial refund for our terrible experience. There were five of us, all over 30, visiting for a July weekend. A maintenance worker named Sonya approached us in the hot tub, asked our names, and saw my friend’s service dog quietly beside her. Without asking whether the dog was a service animal, she told us dogs weren’t allowed. My friend complied and left for the condo within minutes. Sonya then questioned each of us about where we were staying. When she learned that three people in the tub were renting a condo a few houses up the hill from the same company, she told them they couldn’t be there and had to leave immediately, saying, “I’m just the messenger but they get really mad about that”. We all respectfully got out, already uncomfortable with her manner. Then she escalated things by saying, “you have about 30 seconds to get out before the cops come”. The encounter was bizarre and spoiled the evening. Later, while the rest of us were at a concert 15 minutes away, Sonya called management saying we had left the dog unattended. My friend was asleep in the master bedroom. Sonya must have looked in through the windows, which felt like an invasion of privacy. We were repeatedly called at the concert because someone claimed the dog was alone and barking, which was stressful and inaccurate. The next morning as we left, Sonya was waiting outside the condo, pretending to look at something while staring into the unit. I don’t know what we did to irritate her, but her actions felt unacceptable and unprovoked, and wrecked what could have been a perfect stay. We reported her behavior to the front desk manager, who said it would be taken seriously and promised at least a partial refund. We received nothing. I don’t recommend renting here if you don’t want to be harassed by property managers, and wouldn’t expect management to follow through on promises to make things right.

We ate at the dining table with a view across the valley, and the hot tub was great. The location was terrific and the amenities were very nice. I’d definitely consider coming back.

The clean lodging had a great selection of kitchen and cooking gear, and the location was very convenient. The hot tub among the trees was superb. We also had exceptionally good meals at Stonebridge Hotel, the adjacent property.

It’s a short walk to ski down, and the hot tub was nice. The place is roughly halfway between the mall and Base Village. I thought it was good value.
