Expedition Station

The ski access is genuinely quick and easy, with a well-kept locker area, and I slept great in the comfortable bed after skiing. The room was small but manageable and generally in decent condition, aside from some bathroom ceiling paint peeling, probably from moisture. The central bathroom exhaust didn't work very well. The fridge was tiny with no freezer, there was little counter space, and a single small ice bucket had to do while the ice machines were downstairs on the first floor. I liked being near Starbucks, since the room only had a drip coffee maker. The room was warm, and the location was the main draw. The price was a surprise. During the mid-March 50% end-of-season sale, two nights in a Junior Studio Condo for two adults were listed at $300, discounted to $150, or $75 a night. Then $185 in fees were added, bringing the total to a bit over $335. That was much more than I expected at checkout, even though it ended up among the least expensive places on the mountain. Snowshoe should list the full total up front and stop with the bait and switch. AirBNB can do it, so Snowshoe can too. There was no front desk at this facility, so check-in meant going to Allegheny condos. Parking across the road was inconvenient, and unloading wasn't much better. The nearest option involved stairs, the fire lane meant someone had to stay with the vehicle in case it needed to move for emergency access, and the designated loading spots, farthest away, always seemed full when I looked. I'd stay again, but the value wasn't that great beyond the location.
