Knights Inn South Amboy

I left deeply disappointed by the cleanliness and quality of the room. I had requested a non-smoking room for my stay from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM, but the room smelled strongly of cigarettes and mold. The bathroom and the rest of the room were in very poor condition and clearly needed an urgent deep cleaning. After a long day, all I needed was a clean, comfortable place to rest for a few hours, and this was unacceptable. The customer service was also extremely unhelpful and fell short of basic hospitality. I ask that these conditions be addressed immediately, since they shouldn't be acceptable for any guest.

There are a lot of roaches, and the prices are never right. I found a deal online, but they told me I still had to pay 100$ for a weekday.

The beds were comfortable, and the front desk attendant was friendly and attentive even at midnight. The rooms were clean, but the chipped furniture and room door, along with the 1970's bathroom Decor, were hard to overlook. The TV had no signal, and the bedside lamp only worked when I leaned it against the wall so the plug would stay in the outlet. There wasn't much else positive. For one night passing through on the interstate, it does the job.

The location is great, and the rooms look great after the interior redo since my last visit. No smells, either. The staff were helpful, especially on Sunday when I left my phone behind. I went back and luckily one of the housekeepers had found it. Not a bad place. I'll go back and recommend others try it.
