Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott South Boston

We were supposed to get two queen beds, but after Cassey checked us in and gave us a key for room 230, we opened the door to find people sleeping inside. The desk apologized and offered a suite with a king bed and couch. That room on the third floor was occupied too. The clerk had given us keys to occupied rooms twice. When I went back downstairs, they offered an empty accessible room instead. We ended up with a king and pullout couch rather than two queen beds. How frightening for the people in those rooms to have strangers let in with keys. Why wasn't the clerk checking whether rooms were occupied before handing out keys? What a shame.

After a long work trip in May, I arrived late and was given the last available room. It hadn't been cleaned well, and the shower didn't work. The front desk said they couldn't do anything, then eventually offered points that I don't think I ever received.

The staff were very friendly, and the bathroom was clean and had everything stocked. I was just passing through for one night. The bed was comfortable, and the basic breakfast did the job.

There's a simple bar in the lobby with quick bites, and the location is good, though it feels a little out of the way. If you're heading to the airport, keep an eye on Maps or Waze because traffic can change fast. A drive that should take 20 minutes can turn into 30 or 40.
