Gatehouse Motel

The room was spacious and really quiet, and I liked the smaller setup where you can park right by the door and reach your vehicle easily. It's an older room, which I honestly prefer in an age of huge hotels. I was traveling with my dog, and there were lots of places to walk her. The woman who helped me was lovely and did a great job.

We got a good week out of the stay, and the low price suited us. The beds were clean and comfortable, the room didn't smell, and the service was fine. We emailed the owner or manager, who took out the garbage and brought fresh towels. The building is old and dated, and there was mold on the shower ceiling. The shower pressure was disappointing, there was no shampoo, and there aren't many outlets, so bring an extension cord. We had our own shampoo, and the room had what we needed.

The inside was a welcome surprise: the room had been fixed up beautifully and was comfortable and clean. From the outside, though, the property looked rough, apparently after the previous owner let it run down. New management seems to be doing a great job. I arrived wondering what we'd find, and was very glad we stopped.

Having a kitchen in the room is handy, with a stove, fridge, and microwave.
