Travelodge by Wyndham South Hackensack

I came for a weeklong work trip from out of state a few months ago and couldn't believe the place when I walked in. There were holes in the walls, the shower barely ran, and the dresser felt so loose it might fall apart. I saw roaches and stepped on them. It also made me feel bad to see people in their 70s sharing rooms. This is the kind of place where you can pay for two hours and go have a ball, lol. SMH.

The heat worked well, but I ended up sleeping wrapped in moving blankets I'd brought along. There was a stale cigarette smell, a toilet running around the clock, a broken iron, dry blood stains and cigarette burns on the sheets, loose outlets, terrible Wi-Fi, and a TV that didn't work. The door's security latch was broken, with a gap wide enough to slide a credit card through. You could see where police or someone else had broken in from the outside. The chain lock was missing its sliding nut, apparently from when the cop or whoever broke into the room. I watched what looked like drug deals happening through the night.

We only booked here because our other travel plans fell through in the middle of the night, and there weren't many options. We called around before settling on this place. Opening the door, we were hit by a stale cigarette stench. The pillows were paper thin, and the comforter was covered in cigarette burns. The bathroom towel rack and dresser handles were broken. The door's security latch was held by one screw, barely hanging on, and the toilet kept running off and on all night. The floor felt coated in sand. Absolutely disgusting. I can't believe they charge $140 for a room. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I stayed here on 9/25/2025 and wouldn't recommend it. The location felt sketchy, and being across from an airport meant flights arriving and departing all night. The bed covers were dirty, so I asked for new ones. The attendant who came to change them said nothing was wrong, even after I pointed out brown spots and hair. Eventually he left to get fresh sheets. I'm not bougie, but I'm not sleeping on dirty covers. The shower handle was broken, with a string threaded through the holes to turn the water on and off. I was also angry and disappointed that I couldn't watch the Thursday night football game.
