The historic home and location are hard to beat, with plenty of places to visit nearby. Mount Holyoke College is delightful, the botanical gardens are an easy walk, and I also stayed here to be near family who live far from my home in Maryland. I drive a hybrid and the owners didn't seem to know about the charging station just across the street, though I found it myself. I was disappointed by the lack of management during our three-day stay. The owners were out of town, and while the staff were pleasant, they couldn't resolve problems. One room had no air conditioning controls during weather near 100 degrees. Staff had to call the owners the next morning to get into their private dwelling and access the controls. It was fixed, but we lost a night's sleep while waiting. Breakfast was another letdown. On previous visits, there were freshly baked treats and a gorgeous, properly prepared, made-to-order breakfast with lots of options, the sort of meal I expect from a luxury B&B. This time it was prepackaged and self-serve. That's why I booked this place, even though it was beyond my travel budget. The two of us had separate rooms. Also, the rooms aren't accessible for people who have trouble with stairs. If stairs are a problem, stay elsewhere. The owners are very personable, and I recommend they be present during your stay.

The house is in great shape, and I'd definitely stay again. We chose this lovely bed and breakfast because my daughter and I had an appointment at Mount Holyoke the next morning, and it's very close to the school. We were the only guests that night, so it was quiet. Our room was just right, with internet, a TV, and a gas fireplace. They could also turn the large bed into two singles. At breakfast we met Ruth and had a nice conversation about the area. She's very pleasant to talk with.

The croissants at breakfast were the chef's kiss, and we really enjoyed talking with Ruth, Richard, and the other guests. My partner surprised me with a visit because of my family connection to the Stebbins Family. My 10th great-grandfather, Rowland Stebbins, is Daniel's 4th great-grandfather. We had a wonderful time and will come back when it's warmer outside so we can experience more of the area.

Ruth and Richard were fantastic hosts and made sure we were comfortable throughout our 4th of July weekend at this charming, historic Inn. Coming from California, we were concerned about the July humidity, but our room stayed in the high 60s at night and we slept perfectly. The rooms have been renovated while keeping their 1795 enchantment, and staying at Stebbins gives you that quintessential New England experience. We loved the location, bordering Mt. Holyoke and The Center. Ruth's homemade croissants and zucchini bread were a highlight, and we learned she grew the zucchini in her garden. There was also a great quiche and French toast. My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay, and we'd highly recommend The Daniel Stebbins House Inn.
