Americana

We had a fun stay, and the rooms were cute, with a living area, small kitchen, sofas, and TVs. It was about $300 for one night for two people. The breakfast was nice too, with fruit, donuts, oatmeal, toast, juice, and coffee. Staff prepared it, and there was outdoor dining. There were lots of other offerings, including bikes, DVDs, ping pong, grassy areas, and lounge chairs. It's a really cute place and handy for concerts at Harveys/Ceasars.

We were looking for somewhere dog friendly for three nights in South Tahoe and were glad to find Americana. The room felt homey, had plenty of space, and was laid out well. We didn't use the kitchen much, but it was there if we needed it. The grounds were immaculate and inviting, with places to sit outside, read, grill, or visit. Every staff member we met was friendly and cheerful. The beach and other attractions were also a very short drive away.

The staff were great and even got us a sled for the kids to play in the snow on the small play area. Our room was clean and cozy, with a kitchenette stocked well enough for our needs. The pullout sofa bed had an air mattress, but it was comfortable enough.

This quirky, homey little “resort” is a short walk from the main part of town and the Nevada state line. There are some fun extras: hot fresh popcorn in the lobby, a video rental library, full kitchens with appliances available to rent, free laundry, and daily activities. The gym was better equipped than I expected, with a treadmill, elliptical, light dumbbells, and a cable machine. The room was spacious but oddly short on storage. There was no closet, just a jumble of RV-style cabinets. The blankets were extremely thin, and with temperatures below freezing, we could have used more. When I called the front office, they told me to come get them myself. Outside noise came through easily too, so sleeping in wasn't an option. The staff seemed lackadaisical, though I suspect they aren't paid well. Breakfast was sparse: coffee, donuts, toast, fruit, and a limit of one hard-boiled egg. The room also had cheap touches like single-ply toilet paper.
