Paradice Motel

We were really disappointed. We’d been misled by fake reviews on TripAdvisor and Booking.com. It may be budget-friendly compared with other places, but it’s poorly maintained: the rooms smell, the walls are dirty, the blinds won’t open, and the bathrooms are moldy. If you desperately need a cheap place by the lake, you could stay here, but it’s about as far from paradise as legally possible.

You can walk to Heaven's Village in three minutes and to the beach in about ten, and the neighborhood felt very safe. The motel is adorable, and the manager was the sweetest, shared great recommendations, and makes great coffee. I’d definitely come back!

The room was filthy, and we spent two nights suffering through it. The carpet was so dirty we didn’t want to walk on it, spider webs were all over, and the furniture had dings and holes. The bed was bigger than its frame, with the topper hanging off, and looked like it had been picked up off the street. The bathroom mirror was broken, the vanity had bulbs in mismatched colors, and there was no coffee machine. We even had to use our own toilet paper. Much of the furniture looked like free curbside finds, and it was arranged badly, with a table blocking the AC. It kept shutting off, so we were suffocating both nights. The woman running the hotel was very rude and didn’t seem to have basic customer etiquette. The office was closed whenever we needed help, and when we did reach her, she acted as if she couldn’t understand us. We asked for housekeeping, but she only took the trash. The bed wasn’t made, wet towels were left on the chair and bed, and no toilet paper or toiletries were replenished. At 4 AM people talked loudly in the parking lot for hours, smoked weed, and kept us awake. Nobody did anything. The office itself was dirty and cluttered, with webs everywhere. It felt like she was trying to run the place alone and failing, and her frustration came through in her rude behavior. This hotel is a disaster. They need someone to handle the basic work because the current management is utterly incompetent. Avoid it at all costs.
