Stardust -Tahoe

We arrived after hours, but the staff stayed in touch and made sure we had our keys and could get into the room. Service was excellent, and we’ll definitely stay again. The room was cozy and well decorated, with a comfortable bed and a great double-headed shower. Being right across from the Gondola made the location extremely convenient.

A quirky, clean, fun place with comfortable rooms and really friendly staff. There’s a pool and hot tub, plus a DVD library and popcorn machine at reception. Every room has a DVD player and a nice TV. Breakfast was nice and simple, and the Heavenly Gondola is literally just across the street. I’d go back to Tahoe just to stay here.

My stay at Stardust Hotel in South Lake Tahoe was unacceptable, mainly because of the very poor customer service. The room keys I received at check-in didn't work, so I had to go back to the front desk twice. The receptionist didn't look up at me either time. After my second trip, I was told maintenance would come fix it. Nobody apologized or acknowledged the inconvenience. I calmly asked whether I should wait in the lobby or return to the room, and the receptionist started yelling that I would have to leave the lobby if I gave her “any more attitude.” I was shocked. I had been polite and was only asking a reasonable question after the repeated key failures. I've never been treated that badly by hotel staff or customer service. The location and price also weren't worth it to me. The gondola is often on wind hold, more than half the time, so being nearby doesn't mean much. Even if the hotel looks cheap next to other options, I still felt I was overpaying. Between the hostile front desk encounter and the poor value, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere in South Lake Tahoe.

The location was everything, close to stateline. It's super cheap compared with other places, and the service staff were always kind and helpful. The room was a bit small, hence the dropdown bed, and breakfast was meager.
