Jennifer, who works here, is so welcoming and helpful. She really goes out of her way to make sure your needs are met and the stay runs smoothly. As Thousand Trails members, we come to Tahoe more than any other location. There are neat trails to explore and we even saw some wildlife. It's close to all the town activity, but still quiet at night and in the morning, with a large perimeter. The scenery is beautiful. The public bathrooms are always clean and very warm in cold weather, and I like that the showers and toilets are individual and private instead of shared stalls in one big room. The little store has fair prices and pretty much anything we've needed.
The cabin was ready a little early and was really cute and clean. Check-in went smoothly, and the woman who helped us was super friendly. I'm not sure how check-in works when the general store is closed, since it's open from 10 AM to 4 PM. The store has lots of cute things to browse and all the necessities. I appreciated the plenty of fluffy towels and the eco-friendly shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash, and lotion, since not every place offers those. The bed was okay, nothing amazing, but we slept fine. Tree removal around the playground was going on in March 2026. It might affect some guests, though it didn't bother us. Starlink worked well once I found a good spot after a few tries, and kept a strong signal all week. We were very happy with our stay.
This is an RV campground, so a room rating doesn't really apply. Our go-to place in South Lake Tahoe. The sites are big, with MANY pine trees all around, and staff are VERY friendly and always ready to go the extra mile. It's also conveniently close to restaurants, beaches, bike rentals, and lots of hiking trails.
The property is almost perfect, but I have to rate it low because the Cabin Pass limits are subpar and misleading. I bought the pass to use at this location while visiting family nearby, then found out they block out the two busiest months for pass members. They can charge retail customers astronomical rates for cabins that would normally be allocated to Cabin Pass members. That feels like poor business ethics, and no one mentioned it when I bought the pass.
The campground seems better suited to big groups who like partying late. As early risers looking for a peaceful retreat, that wasn't a fit for us. It does have plenty of activities for kids, so families may enjoy it. We were disappointed with our stay at Tahoe Valley Campground. The sites were extremely small and packed close to neighbors, which felt cramped. Considering the high cost, the value didn't meet our expectations. If you're after a quiet, relaxed camping trip, this may not be the place.
