Beach Retreat & Lodge at Tahoe

Nick the GM made our anniversary trip feel special. He’s a genuinely lovely person, and we’re grateful our paths crossed. We had a great stay. The weather surprised us too, 60 degrees felt like 80! We enjoyed the hikes at Van Sickle and The Cascades, both with waterfalls. For food and drinks, idle hour wine bar is an easy walk, The Grove lake side dining was fantastic, and so was the restaurant at the Marina. Peace.

The maintenance guys were quick to respond and really helpful, and the front desk workers were nice too. But the stay wasn’t worth the high price. The rooms are dated and have just the tiniest table. Groups of guys and rude families took over the fire pits. Mostly, the hotel offers access to a crowded little stretch of beach. I’m not booking here again.

My family and I have been coming here for years, and it has never let us down. The rooms are very clean, the views are beautiful, and the staff are great. I’d definitely recommend it. Sad to hear it’s closing on October 29. We’ve made some great memories here.

The location was the one good thing about The Beach Retreat and Lodge at Tahoe. Our room wasn’t ready until 5 PM, and then we heard noises all night. We found rats and droppings in the room, and they’d chewed through my husband’s backpack. The room was comped, but nobody offered to replace the damaged bag. Staff said they’d “never seen this happen,” though there were rat boxes around the property. We were moved, only to find ants in the next room. Service at the restaurant was another problem. Its door opened at 8 AM Sunday, but no staff seemed to be there. We watched another guest wait at the bar for at least five minutes and leave, then we left too. Around the pool, used towels were scattered over the deck and nearby areas. Between the pests, the cleanliness issues, and the service, this was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we’ve had.
