WoodSpring Suites South Plainfield

The nice employees were a plus, and the air conditioning worked. It had the usual hotel stuff, but that’s about all I liked. I saw around three roaches, and I definitely didn’t bring them from my house. The bathroom smelled like butt before any of us even used it, and there was a weed smell everywhere and dust in some spots. I also found a blond hair on the towel, but my family’s hair is all dark, so it weirded me out. I’m not sure there’s anything they can do about that, though.

There wasn’t a single redeeming thing about this place. I checked out a day early. They advertise it as 3 star, but it’s more like 0.5 star on a good day. There was no coffee in the lobby or coffee machine in the room, no blackout blinds, and just one bar of soap for 3 guests. The pillows were bad, the beds felt like cheap dorm room beds, and there weren’t enough towels. The walls were paper thin, the air conditioner was loud, and highway noise carried on all night.

Woodspring was such a change after the other extended stay chain, where I couldn’t wait to leave. The rooms here were clean and well kept, and someone was always at the front desk. As long as I need to stay away from my house, I’ll stay at Woodspring.

I’ve been living here for two months, and overall it’s been a pretty good experience. The front desk staff are friendly and have helped me a lot, and I haven’t run into any strange neighbors. Location is decent, about 1 mile from the highway intersection, with enough parking. The price is moderate, and a few dozen dollars a day seems fair for having a private bathroom and being able to cook. The room is a little small, and the facilities are somewhat old. A few corners smell a bit odd, but the place is generally clean. Housekeeping comes once every two weeks, though some cleaners are a bit perfunctory, which could be improved. The indoor laundry is very convenient. The gym is tiny, but better than nothing. Wifi is average and slow, though just usable. For what you pay, the facilities seem about right.
