Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco Airport Nort

The lobby and shared spaces seemed reasonably cared for, but the room fell short of basic comfort and condition. I wouldn't rate it as a three-star hotel based on that room. The bed felt badly worn, with little support left, as if the springs or firmness had broken down. My back hurt significantly during the stay. There were at least five visible tears in the carpet, which I photographed. Rust on fixtures like the towel rack, even in less obvious spots, made it look as though regular upkeep was being missed. At check-in, we asked about a complimentary upgrade based on the stated satisfaction guarantee and our Gold status, but none were available. The issues didn't directly affect cleanliness, but those details matter.

The room was nice, the bed comfortable, and the staff friendly. The property and its staff were good, but the misleading airport-shuttle information is why this gets two stars. The website says there's a shuttle, but when we arrived we learned there wasn't one. Since we were leaving a car there, we had to take two rideshares, adding another $50 to the total. That's left a bad taste. Hilton should cover the cost for advertising something misleading, though I know that won't happen.

We only stayed one night after arriving late for a wine tasting trip. The staff were welcoming and helped us get rooms close together. The rooms were clean where it mattered, though they could use a refresh: one had faded carpet or stained curtains, and the other had holes in its curtains. We didn't hear outside noise, but could hear the neighbors and housekeeping in the hallway. Breakfast was a nice extra, since not many places still offer it.

The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the location worked really well for me. Still, this is one of the less appealing Hilton properties I've stayed at. The decor feels quite dated, with lots of wallpaper peeling, even though the room itself was clean. Breakfast also stops surprisingly early on weekdays, with nothing available after 9 a.m. I stay at a lot of Hiltons, and haven't seen one end breakfast that early. For another visit near San Francisco airport, I'd pick somewhere else.
