Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Southern Pines / Pinehurst

The staff were friendly and the water pressure was good, but book somewhere else. There were dehumidifiers throughout the halls, and the room smelled moldy and musty. The beds were made and the mirror was clean, but everything else was dirty. I had to wipe crumbs and debris off the counter and nightstand, and there was dirt on the floor and debris in every corner. The bathroom shelf for toiletries was dirty too, and there was nowhere to hang towels. Breakfast was disappointing, with cold coffee and no fresh fruit. We were traveling with dogs and had limited options, so we picked this hotel for its cheapest pet fee. Never again.

The pet fee was $25 per pet, per night, and that wasn't mentioned on the website or during the online booking. I even called the hotel to check that they accepted pets, and the person who answered didn't tell me about the charge. With their 24-hour cancellation policy, we couldn't cancel once we arrived. I'm admittedly angry about it, so I may be seeing the place through rose-colored glasses. It's not the best hotel I've stayed in, but it isn't the worst either. Still, why is there an air purifier in the hallway? Also, check the window locks if you're on the first floor. Ours was completely unlocked, and I only noticed by chance.

There was no soundproofing, and someone snored all night, so we couldn't sleep. The bed linens were dirty, and there were insects and a used condom in our friends' room. I can't understand why anyone would build a hotel with walls this thin. This place was terrible.

The staff made my stay. They were friendly and checked in to see if I needed anything. I had a really good time here and would happily recommend the hotel. I’ll be back before long.
