Silver Sands Motel & Beach Bungalows

Our family is still talking about the beach dinner, with its stunning view and delicious food. We also had a great time at the diner, which was both tasty and a fun place to gather. We came together in July 2025 for a mini family reunion and my 70th birthday. We rented the beach house, a bungalow, and five rooms, and everyone loved the property and the kindness of the people at Silversands. David was helpful and thoughtful throughout. He worked with me for almost a year, and even when I asked at the last minute about several reservations, he made them happen. There aren't enough words for how lovely it was. The only downside was that the beach is small. Still, I'd highly recommend staying here. The rooms were spacious and elegantly decorated, without feeling kitschy or trendy. Every interaction was excellent. We played backgammon in the lobby twice, had coffee there, and picked up beers to take to the beach.

We planned to explore the North Fork, but ended up spending most of our time at Silver Sands because the atmosphere was so good. The beach felt nostalgic, with comfortable shaded chairs, and a path led to the boat house where you could eat in the sand and get a drink at a beach bar. Nookies was so delicious I wish I could return just for the food. We stayed three nights over Labor Day weekend, Thursday through Sunday, while visiting from NJ for a wedding. We wanted a quiet, laid-back North Fork stay, and this gem is tucked away enough that all you hear and see are boats and gentle water. The little touches were great: water stations outside the rooms and a big cooler of huge square ice cubes that was always full. I love ice water. Our room had slippers, bathrobes, a safe, a very comfortable bed, lovely decor, and windows that opened easily to let in the ocean breeze. The beach chairs had their own sun shades, which seemed so cool and unusual that I took a picture so I could buy some. I only wish I lived closer than Jersey.

The staff were generally pleasant, and the rooms were lovely and charming. There's a small, family-friendly beach right on the bay. The HVAC struggled on hotter days, and we heard the same from other guests. Nookies, the on-site diner, was okay, but much too small.
