I booked a solo road trip on a whim and had such a good time that I already know I’ll return. You can walk to the shops and restaurants by the water, so my car stayed parked the whole time. There are bikes and games for guests, cute swinging chairs, and they light a fire at night. The staff are so thoughtful, even putting a diffuser and sound machine in the room. Please stay here. I’d give it 10 out of 5 if I could.

This independent inn is a lovely little bit of home in a renovated 1950s motel. It’s an affordable way to travel and enjoy the local culture. They have a range of great accommodations, including Wi-Fi, fire pits, and rooms close to the water with a view.

Clean, updated, and pet friendly, with shops and diners easy to reach on foot. A perfect spot in a small town, and a regular part of our yearly beach trips.

The owner and manager followed up to make sure we checked in okay and had what we needed. There was plenty of helpful information in the room and online, and guests can borrow bikes on a first come basis. The room was outstanding, though a bit small, but the shower was in pretty rough shape. Parking is tight, so bringing my dually would have been bad news. It’s farther from the beach than I’d hoped, but perfect if you’re heading to the old houses, shore, pier, or Southport and don’t plan to swim. I’d come back, which is why I gave it five stars.

They left us a nice map and note with places to check out, and the manager stayed in touch to see if we needed anything. The room was clean and a good value for the location. We spent two nights here and could walk to everything in Southport. We’d stay again.
