La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Spokane Valley

I’ve been in Spokane for work a few times, and this has been the best value among the nearby hotels. The fitness room is clean and well kept, and the big hot tub is nice. The pool has a lot of chlorine, but it’s still usable. Breakfast is good and the hotel itself is pleasant. I’ll book here again next trip. They also don’t charge a pet fee, so I could bring my kitten without worrying about that.

My son Gus was still talking about Meggie when we checked out, and he even said he wanted to go to her house. Her friendly smile and the way she took time with him are why we’ll come back to La Quinta in the valley of Spokane. She was new at the desk and apologized a few times for that, but she was kind, asked Gus his name, and gave him a sticker. My wife, my three-year-old, and I had been in the car all day, so he was wound up when we arrived. The other desk employee, Katesha (or something similar), had a sour expression and seemed to have a bad attitude. When Meggie asked her how to do something, she sighed in frustration and rolled her eyes before helping. Meggie looked embarrassed but kept smiling and assisting us. I thought about it for a few hours, then went back to the desk. The guy there told me Katesha was his roommate and a supervisor. I got her name, but figured a complaint wouldn’t be heard. No one can learn if a supervisor belittles and embarrasses them.

The beds were a big deal for me since I’m disabled and need a good one, and these were super comfortable. Breakfast was amazing too. The scrambled eggs were the best I’ve had in a hotel or hospital, better than the ones I make, and didn’t even need salt or pepper. The biscuits were soft and fluffy but held up to the peppery sausage gravy, which had just the right amount of pepper. The staff were friendly, and we had a good laugh introducing them to my new friend Mavis. She’s 62, retired as a saloon girl, and has seen some things. She likes staying here too.

My wife and I drive trucks, and we were glad there was parking for us in the back. Our cat, our princess, stayed free since they don’t charge for animals. The rooms had everything we needed and were really clean, and everyone here was helpful. It’s affordable and close to lots of good places. We’d happily stay again, and I’d recommend it whether you’re coming to Spokane or just passing through.
