Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Thornburg, S. Fredericksburg by IHG

The bed was comfortable, but I was disappointed that the pool area no longer has a jacuzzi. My room, #224, faced I-95 and was very noisy. The decor was sparse, with empty spots where something seemed to be missing. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner are fixed in the shower, so using them while taking a bath means repeatedly standing up to reach them, which feels like a fall risk. The office chair was so dirty it needs to be removed, and the hair dryer kept cutting out on low.

We’re Platinum members and usually choose Holiday Inn Express for the prices and continental breakfast, but this Thornsburg-E Fredericksburg location disappointed us. On both our April 2 and April 11, 2026 stays, the room and bathroom weren’t clean. On the second visit, the bathroom needed a deep clean, and there was debris and dead bugs inside the ceiling light. The first time, we arrived late to find a rude desk clerk and only two bath towels for five people in a suite with two queen beds and a sofa sleeper. When we asked for more, she resisted, and only gave us three extra after we insisted.

I came here to take a couple of days off the road. The building is clean, but there was a lot of noise. During the day, housekeeping staff were loud in the hallway and doors kept banging. The walls also seem thin, since I could hear staff talking on the phone on my floor. A dog barking in the next room added to the noise. It’s inconvenient, though nobody’s really to blame.

A comfortable, clean, quiet place for the price. The staff were friendly, and breakfast was hot and good. I’d stop here again.
