Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Spring Hill/Weeki Wachee

The staff are lovely, and the rooms work well for either a personal trip or work. Breakfast is hot and served well. If Ms. Sherrie is at the front desk, she'll tell you she's got what you need, and she means it. I'll book again.

Our room was clean, and aside from the stained window cushion, the rest of it was very clean too. My main complaint was the lobby: it looked like the floor hadn't been cleaned after breakfast, with jam and other mess on it, and some chairs and tables were dirty. Sherry at the front desk gave excellent service and support.

After a 12-hour trip, this was an awful stay. We checked into a room that was smaller than I'd expected, which is on me, but it smelled really musty. I asked the desk for a different room, and that one smelled too. It was a spacious suite and otherwise nice, but it was only available for the first night. They had it booked for the next three days, so we'd have to move. We stayed one night in the musty suite, then moved to a musty first-floor room from a musty room on the second floor. At that point, I could only assume they all smelled that way. The shower went cold after five minutes, and there were no grips in the tub. A maintenance woman knocked before checkout because I guess the room had been marked “vacant.” For a Wyndham property, I expected better. It was our first time in a micro hotel, so maybe the standards are micro too. The price didn't seem justified; it felt like an Econo Lodge standard at the cost of a regular Wyndham room.

On a 45-day trip, this was the best hotel I stayed in. The bed was comfortable, the place spotless, the pool heated, and breakfast was good. They even had fresh cookies for free at night, plus lots of free parking. Outback is next door, and Weeki Wachee and the manatee-watching springs are close and convenient. Highly recommend.
