Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Springdale

The front desk staff were incredibly nice and helpful, but the rest of the stay had too many shortcomings. You had to stand in an inch or so of water because the shower drained poorly. The beds were doubles, which are much smaller than the queens most hotels have, and breakfast was mediocre at best. The pool wasn’t heated as advertised, and both the water and pool room were freezing. There’s no hot tub now. It’s been filled in.

The bathrooms were the best part. They were well stocked, and I liked having dispensers for body and hair products, handy if you forget yours or want to save a little money. The beds, though, were awful and reminded me of a motel bed. The view from a room facing behind the building isn’t attractive. It worked for one night, but other hotels nearby are better, especially for what this place charges. They could do a lot better.

The room was comfortable and clean, nothing fancy, and the shower had good water pressure. The hotel was clean too. Robin at the front desk was very nice, and Summer was sweet and helpful when we called. Nan made a great breakfast, and I really enjoyed chatting with her. She was so sweet.

I believe bedbugs bit me, and they didn’t care. The bed was broken on one side and slanted badly, so I struggled all night to stay in it. I called to report it, but they said several people had quit and they were understaffed. There weren’t many cars in the lot, and I thought they could simply move me to another room, but they didn’t help. The room was dirty and had no towels when I arrived, and they weren’t interested in helping with that either. I told them at check-in I was staying long term and tried to negotiate a weekly rate, but everything seemed disorganized. The next morning I left a message for the manager. I called and left another message every morning, asked for the manager, and never got a call back. I’m a Bonvoy elite member and spend over 140 days a year in hotels. I won’t stay at Marriott again until they resolve this. I moved to a Hilton property in Fayetteville, where they’ve been wonderful and met all my needs. I’ll stay with Hilton until Marriott at least calls or emails me. Best wishes, and steer clear if you want a good night’s rest.
