Bella Bay Inn

Sarah was kind and helpful when we had trouble with the entry code, which was the one bright spot. As soon as we entered the room, there was a strong, unpleasant smell. After a few minutes, we noticed visible mold and found that the toilet wasn’t working properly. We contacted the property straight away but never got a response. The room’s condition and the lack of communication ruined the stay, so we left to find somewhere else. The location is excellent, which makes it especially disappointing.

The room was very clean and convenient, right downtown, and the location was perfect for walking around St. Augustine. Parking isn’t onsite, but it’s a short walk away, which is pretty normal for downtown. Just plan for it. We’d definitely stay here again.

We had to leave after staying three of the four nights we’d booked for our wedding weekend. Because we were busy with wedding events, I didn’t spend much time in the room until the day before checkout, when I started packing and found termites in the room and crawling all over my wedding dress. The staff refunded the final night, which I appreciate, but this shouldn’t have happened. We chose Bella Bah Inn because it was a four-minute walk from our venue. The parking was not nearby, which was stressful, but we knew that from the reviews and managed it. Some things in the room weren’t as clean as I’d have liked, though I would have overlooked that. The termites affected our stay and our review.

There was a bar you could hear from the room, but it wasn’t loud or late enough to bother me. The place is a good value and within walking distance of everything. Parking is an easy walk away rather than beside the building. It could be an issue if you want the car close, or feel uneasy walking alone late at night. We had no trouble parking a standard-size car, though the lot wasn’t full, and they kindly let us leave the car for a couple of hours after checkout. I booked through a third party and didn’t get instructions, but a quick phone call sorted that out.
