I’m a Hilton Honors silver member, so I occasionally stay at Hilton properties when I travel. This is a decent hotel, nicely located near the historic area and across from the fountain of youth. My room was fine, I slept well, and the coffee is very good. I’d probably stay here again if I didn’t need a late checkout. I rarely ask for extra time, but I was running behind that morning and wanted to take care of a few things before leaving. While getting coffee, I asked the front desk about a late checkout. They said I had to check with housekeeping at 9:00 a.m. I called the desk a little after 9, and they said housekeeping wasn’t available but they could check. The woman came back and said I couldn’t have a late checkout. It was Tuesday after Memorial Day, the hotel and its parking lot were only half full, and I’m sure they weren’t fully booked that day either. I would’ve appreciated some courtesy and being allowed to stay until 1:00. LOL.

Watch out for the daily parking fee. It isn’t included in the hotel rate, and it’s not cheap. Otherwise, this was a very nice, well-kept hotel that seemed relatively new, about a 20-minute walk from St. Augustine’s tourist areas. The room and bathroom were both roomy, with plenty of space for luggage. The gym wasn’t big, but it had what you need for a good workout. The front desk was moderately friendly at check-in, checked on us during the stay by text, which I liked, and responded to our needs.

The location is great and the rooms are clean, but that was my experience. I thought parking was free, then found out they charged for it. The receptionist was snippy and made a fuss because I hadn’t said “please” when asking for the complimentary cookie. With all that parking money, you’d think they could keep the elevators working. I got stuck in one and only saw the out-of-order sign after pressing the button for my floor. There was tape over the button for the wrong-floor door. One day I found an envelope in my room asking for tips for the cleaning staff. With their high rates and extra fees, you’d think they could pay staff a livable wage.

We booked a hotel room and conference room for a weekend business meeting, and the experience was wonderful. The sales coordinator and staff handled every detail quickly and efficiently. The catered meeting made us feel like a top priority that day, and the food was hot and delicious. Even the front desk and bartending staff were amazing. The hotel is also in a great spot for local attractions. I regularly plan and attend these kinds of events, and I can’t say enough good things about this hotel and experience. A+

Nicole from sales made planning our ICDA-US 75th Anniversary banquet a joy. She was responsive, helpful, and so accommodating. The whole team at the DoubleTree by Hilton St. Augustine Historic District made us feel welcome. Dinner at The Oak Room was a hit. The buffet and service were outstanding, and everyone enjoyed the meal. The waitress and bartender were very friendly. Thanks, too, to the lobby bartender for being patient with the crowd and keeping up with everyone before we headed to The Oak Room. Heartfelt thanks to the whole team. Brian VT ICDA-US Treasurer
