Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott St. Augustine I-95

The staff made me feel welcome and comfortable, and they were polite, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I had a fantastic stay at this clean, very nice hotel. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was pretty decent, with oatmeal, waffles, and the usual choices. I wasn’t keen on the hot food, but it filled me up, and the breakfast lady was very nice and kept things moving. We also liked the carpets in the lobby and common areas. The staff were kind and helpful, and brought fresh towels when we asked. If the rest of the experience improves, this place could be pretty good. It wasn’t as bad as I’ve probably made it sound. We stayed several nights during the week in March 2026. The hotel is near I-95, with a few places to eat nearby and factory outlets for people who like that kind of shopping. Renovations were underway during our visit, though I understand the rooms have all been updated already. The room looked decent when we checked in, and the remodel itself was nice. The parking lot was the biggest hassle. It’s cramped even without the storage containers, equipment, and materials taking up space, and a lot of it was basically unusable. There was sand, pebbles, dirt, and other debris across the lot, which made it slippery. My foot slid more than once. The surface also needs a full repaving, with cracks and uneven patches all over. I know work was continuing, but I saw little effort to sweep or clear the lot. There are signs saying they aren’t responsible if something happens to your vehicle, including one at the side entrance. The front desk said that policy applies to the whole property, which didn’t give me much confidence in security. Our room was okay, but there was only one small trash can, in the bathroom, which was inconvenient. The TV remote had no battery cover, so we had to hold the batteries in place and sometimes shift them around. I wondered whether anyone checks these little things when the room is cleaned. We were told the room would be cleaned, but it never was, so we had to go get clean, dry towels every day. The towel hooks were awkwardly placed or blocked by other things, and the towels we left out were still wet when we came back. The beds weren’t made and the trash was full too. A few more things stood out. The door latch was so loud it could wake the whole hotel if you came in at night or early morning. There was a mark in the floor crack in front of the toilet that looked like it could be blood or feces, though I can’t say what it was. I’m sure I saw a large bug near the tub and door, but I don’t know exactly what it was. It looked like a big black beetle. I got rid of it before my wife freaked out. Maybe it was a one-off, but it happened during our stay. The bathroom fixtures and shower head also looked worn, and the pool needs resurfacing. Still, everything was immaculately clean, which matters most to me. The bed was comfortable and the mini fridge was handy. Breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold food, and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub after walking around all day. The staff were polite and welcoming, and housekeeping greeted us as they passed. The room had just been renovated and was clean, modern, and nice. Breakfast was very good too. The hotel is still in the middle of renovations, though you can hear the guests next door very clearly. I called the desk about a really loud TV at 1 a.m., and the clerk dealt with it right away.

My husband and I were there over Memorial Day Weekend, using the hotel as a base for exploring St. Augustine. The property was a bit worn in places. The pool needs resurfacing, the bathrooms have clearly seen plenty of use, and our shower head looked somewhat corroded. But everything was immaculately clean, which matters more to me. I enjoyed the stay.
