Guy Harvey Resort on St Augustine Beach

We had a great two-night family getaway, and our corgis were welcome too. The restaurant food was fantastic, the drinks were good, and the prices seemed reasonable for a resort. The hotel is a little outdated, but I figure they’re making do with what they have.

The rooms were clean and the hotel was well cared for, though they really need an upgrade, especially the carpets. The bedding, at least, was very comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool and the well-kept beach, and the restaurant servings were generous with excellent food. What stood out most was how friendly and helpful every staff member was. We had two small problems and both were handled promptly. This was our second visit in five years, for four nights and five days, and we hope to return next year to see whether the rooms have had some updates. One small annoyance: my husband noticed a tip prompt on the receipt for merchandise and left one, though he didn’t feel it was necessary.

We’ve been here three days and have had a great stay so far. The hotel and our balcony room are very clean, and the walk to the Atlantic is short. Our puppy has been welcomed and loved by everyone. The restaurant is pretty tasty, too. There’s also a bus or trolley from the front door to St. George Street downtown, leaving every eight minutes after the hour, traffic permitting. A hot tub would have made the stay even better.

The rooms we stayed in were clean, modern, and had very comfortable beds, with the appropriate artwork. Check-in staff were friendly and helpful, and even on a busy weekend there was plenty of parking. You reach the beach through the pool area, less than a minute and a half away on foot. The hallways look like they haven’t been updated and feel a little low-rent, but the room itself was great. It’s a good, affordable choice for families or people visiting for work.
