Island South 33

We were pleased with Unit 31 and would stay again on our next visit to St. Augustine. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars instead of 4. I didn't take photos, sorry. The location is hard to beat, right on the beach with private access, and the condo is close to grocery stores, restaurants, and St. Augustine center. The pool and its furniture were excellent, parking was good, and check-in and checkout were easy. Communication with the rental agency was excellent, including when a toilet problem was fixed quickly. The condo was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of room to unpack for a longer family stay. The bathroom water pressure was great. The interior didn't match all the online photos, but the changes were improvements and we didn't mind. There's no elevator, though thankfully the building is only three floors. A net could be pulled across the patio to block bugs, and its door led right to the pool and beach. A few cosmetic things could use attention. The edging around the doors seemed to have been rehung, but only half painted. Old curtain-rod holes had been patched, though the plaster was left in a clump, unsanded and unpainted. The master bathroom had new wallpaper, but the fixtures weren't removed and the wallpaper wasn't installed very well. There were beach chairs, an umbrella, and toys on the patio even though the website didn't list them as amenities, but they were rusted and broken, which was disappointing. Please remove those items and fix the cosmetic issues. Also, the patio door only locked from inside, so after the beach or pool we had to walk around the building to get back in, or leave the patio and condo unsecured. A keypad lock would let guests secure the place and return from the beach without going through the parking lot. The lack of an elevator isn't a complaint since we knew about it, but with family there's a lot to carry, and packing and unpacking the car in the heat and humidity was tough.

We rented a nice, well-kept condo facing the beach. One sliding glass door wouldn't open, but the other one worked. The beach and location were lovely, and we walked to nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner. There's just something about St. Augustine beaches. We'll be back.

We stayed in Unit 5 and enjoyed the wonderful beach views from its large balcony, where we could all sit and take in the scenery. The public access is close by, though the property also has its own private beach access.

It was absolutely beautiful and very clean, with that Old Florida feel.
